Certainly, IBBU shall be recognized among the comity of universities... It's a slowly but gradual process, we shall get there. Our SUG president, Comr. Gimba Abubakar Sadiq (GAS) with other executives are currently representing IBB University at the ''National assembly dialogue with students of Nigerian Universities" this gathering is the first of its kind in Nigeria and it is organized by the speaker of the National Assembly Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara
. The gathering comprises of representatives of students union in Nigeria universities, the NANS President is also in attendance. The programme which is a three day program kick started yesterday, 9th May 2016. In Mr Speaker's welcoming speech, he said important things which we shall quote and present to. Ensure you make a comparism with IBBU students union so far and see if we are growing forward or otherwise.Meanwhile, the Speaker of the house of reps reiterated the objectives of the gathering
"The core objectives of this event therefore, include: to expose students to legislative practice and procedure; improve public trust in the Legislature as an arm of government; and enable students to meet and interact with their elected representatives in the National Assembly"
Have any of our SUG President ever made a move to see the member house of rep representing Lapai/Agaie constituency? Owing to the fact that IBBU is a State University...
The speaker of the house elaborated on the role of Nigerian students in politics
His words...
"The Role of Students in Nigerian Politics:
Nigerian students played a big role in the struggle for independence in Nigeria. They played an equally historical role after independence, and they were a thorn in the flesh of the military during the period of military rule in Nigeria. Student activism and unionism contributed in shaping the political history of Nigeria. I will recall just a few incidents. In the early 60’s soon after independence, Nigeria proposed to enter into an Anglo- Nigeria Defence pact, which was seen as a neo-colonialist imperialistic agenda. Nigerian students mobilised and marched to the Parliament in Lagos. This resultant effect was the cancellation of the pact.
The Ali- must go protest by Nigerian students against increase in school fees, feeding and accommodation charges in 1978 must go down as a shining moment for student activism in Nigeria. Of course students also played a major role in the anti – SAP demonstrations in 1989, and the protests in the aftermath of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 elections.
I believe strongly that the culture of peaceful protest, demonstrations and general activism is not only necessary in a democratic state but is in fact a constitutional right. This ensures accountability of government to the people. Resistance to tyranny, crusade for justice and good governance require courage, patriotism and ideological purity"
Here is our union, seeing the above idea as nonsense so far...
Anyway, after this gathering, we hope to see changes in our unionism being implemented by Gimba Abubakar Sadiq.
The full speech by the speaker house of reps shall be available on our blog soonest.

Meanwhile, the latest development now in town is recuperation of security in town. Nigeria economy is now terrible that poor individuals have been forced into stealing and armed robbery. It is for this reason that curfew have now been instituted in Lapai. No one is expected to be seen outside within the hours of 12-5am. If you must go out, then hold your ID card. This recent development however will not be a welcomed one for the party riders. What is means is that you all should read your books. In addition, if you are a student and you are thinking of how to join the thieves to start armed robbery, then have in mind that you just signed you eviction form out of IBBU
Finally, IBBUL Campus Gist wishes to felicitate with IBBUL Comradeship chat group, the most influential chat group in IBBU which houses so many comrades both graduated and still in school. We wish to celebrate with them as they celebrate the group's one year anniversary. We urge them to epitomise the title of the group in the course of their struggle....
....A better IBBU is right on the way... IBBULites, support us and together we shall attain the height of excellence.
