IBBU Alumni Association came into limelight during Elbash's administration, got themselves registered with the school and began operation. This kangaroo association is led by a certain Umar Saba, a 2.2 graduate of political science.



It is quite disheartening to know that the association existed without the graduates and undergraduates feeling the impact of its existence. Few days ago, they sheepishly responded to the students speculations on increase in school fees and that was when some students know of its existence. What then is the essence of maintaining an infamous association which are yet to help or assist a single student?

IBBU Alumni Association are thieves, criminals and untrustworthy if they fail to defend the claims in this article. The 2014/2015 session that graduated all paid a compulsory alumni dues of ₦1,500 when they came for clearance. Every year IBBU produce an average of 2,000 graduates. Now let's do the arithmetic ₦1,500 X 2,000 = ₦3,000,000 (3 million naira) that is to say, last year the kangaroo association generated a whopping 3 million naira and they are about to do same this year. This analysis however excludes the external sourcing of revenue and the dues being paid by the alumnus themselves.

The challenge now is that what are this money used for? Which project have they executed within the Campus? None right? And funny enough, no one has revolted. Every graduating set will be compelled to pay this due and they'll all pay without feeling any impact. We gloat and complain as students when we hear of any increase in fees, instead of the alumni to intervene they rather sit and think of better ways to exploit students. When comrade El Bash was victimized and and his graduation was delayed, which role did the alumni association played? When Manager and Safiya were disqualified from contesting without a just reason, what role did the alumni play to correct this?

As a matter of urgency, on behalf of the entire IBBULites we wish to demand for the expenditure breakdown of the dues collected by the association. Secondly, we demand to know the achievements of this association since it's inception. Also, we the undergraduates demand for the constitution of the association as one day, we will also be alumni.
